Dear reader, I have not vanished, nor has the zine. I have, however, picked up another project bound to disrupt my zine-creation. NaNoWriMo - standing for "National Novel Writing Month" - starts in a mere two days, and I've decided to enter. It must be said I have not been one to say "I'd like to write a novel some day." In fact, if anything, I've thought of writing a novel entirely out of my pay grade, so to speak. Enter this contest, whereby quantity over quality is featured - hey, I can get on board with that!

In addition to entering NaNoWriMo I have joined, and committed to writing for, Red Room. I haven't yet parsed out the differences in my Red Room writing versus my daily blog but that's sure to only take a few minutes of study.

Excerpts from my work will be featured in the next zine - along with some handy DIY tips from around the world (mostly, though, around Grays Harbor), a guest article about remaining in good standing in relationships, and some winter recipes featuring local foodstuffs.

And finally - if you haven't seen it, I advise taking a look through our Flickr group. We have a handful of amazing photographers. If you have any curiosity about what it's like to live in Grays Harbor or Hoquiam (OK, don't answer the implied question with a big sarcastic eye-roll), this would be a great way to do it.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween, and I'll see you here soon!

shout-out for a cool project Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Have you been to the Hands On Childrens Museum in Olympia? It's one of my children's favorite places. And it turns out, some locals are interested in starting one around here. There will be a meeting at the Aberdeen Timberland Library this Thursday (the 17th) at 7:30 PM.

Interested parties should contact Lilith Piri at 533-7220.

A lovely moment
